They then jump into the water one by one and climb onto a lifeboat that floated out of position in the boat deck. Adam pulls a screwdriver out of his pocket and disables the propeller and kicks it into the ocean. They look behind them and find out the vent that they,re now in is flooding several feet away. Just as the stern has rosen several feet out of the water, they reach one of the propellers, which is still running. Meanwhile, the camera shows at least 100 bodies floating in the water on a full-flooded deck. They find out that the engine room is Also on the submerging deck They're on and discover that the stern is rising out of the water. They work their way over the shut down gears and circuits. However they get to the engine room and jump into the machines just as the shaft fills with water and pours over the edge. When the water from the waves begin to leak thru the cracks in the shaft, Adam finds out that they have very little time to escape.

The Poseidon continues to submerge, one wave after another and suddenly the windows crack, causing millions of gallons of water to flood the decks and drown almost every passenger onboard. They meet other passengers trapped, such as News reporter Sally Chang (Brenda Song), football coach Logan Jackson (Tiger Woods), Butler Vernon Newton (Matt Lanter) and Police officer Brianna Forestman (Debby Ryan). Eventually the salt in the water expands the shaft and causes holes (or vents) to lead to other rooms. The plan succeeds but suddenly the ship,s bottom submerges a little, causing the shaft to begin to flood. Suddenly, Adam Emerges from a crushed sofa and they plan to escape thru the ventilation shaft. Jennette and Freddy wake up to find themselves crushed by a collapsed pillar.
Suddenly, the weight of the falling furniture collapsing onto each other pulls the ship upside down, with the bottom of the boat now at the surface. Finally the ship is at such an angle that it is impossible to hold on. The water leans over the edge of the pool and slips out, sucking several swimmers with it. People on the stairs slam into the railing. The ship begins to turn upside down and everyone in the halls begin to fall and slip as several pieces of furniture slip by. Finally, the shocking threat is revealed - A massive 90 foot wave hits the starboard side of the ship, flooding all the cabins on the right and the bridge. At the bridge, the crew aren't having much luck and the Poseidon turns in the OPPOSITE direction of what the engines were supposed to make the ship turn. When the captain tells them to evacuate immediately, everyone begins to panic and Jennette grabs Freddy by his arm. In the engine room, everyone gets the message and start to program the ship to go into reverse. He programs all the engines to make the ship turn. The scene then goes back where the crew member says "No" and runs inside. Pop Star Katy Perry (Herself) begins to perform one of her songs, "Firework". At last, it,s midnight and everyone manages to count down without any harm. At the Bridge, a guy comes out with binoculars and looks at an unseen sight. Jennette comes over and pulls him away by his arm. The next night, New year,s eve night, everyone is celebrating at a party and Jennette,s brother Freddy (Mason Cook) is watching some guys play poker. Jennette then says "Ok" and takes off her shirt and goes to the pool. The girl, Jennette (Britt Robertson) invites her boyfriend Adam (Ryan Merriman) to dinner on new year,s eve. The camera zooms out and zooms into a window where a couple are kissing on a couch.
It zooms around the ship and zooms in on it,s name, revealing the ship to be the famous MS POSEIDON. It begins to reverse age and the camera zooms upside down (making the couch right side up) and it zooms out a window and goes farther until the whole ship is seen, sailing on top of the ocean. The submarine finds a ripped and tussled couch as the camera zooms onto it. Most of the furniture is toppled and torn and the walls are pealing.
